A form of leukemia that has a sudden onset, lymphocytic leukemia starts in the bone marrow but often spreads to the lymphatic and nervous system.

With aggressive treatment, which may include chemotherapy, radiation, bone-marrow transplant, and/or biological therapy, there is a high cure rate, especially for children.

Also called acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)
